Romanechite

From : Ober-Kainsbach, Odenwald, Hesse, Germany

In the time around the year 1850 there was a lot of manganese-mining-activity in the Odenwald.

This specimen was collected in one of the old dumps. It is a manganese-oxide-mineral, the non-scientific
name is "Psilomelane". The surface of this specimen was left in natural condition, if you polish the
surface it gets a black metallic lustre and can be used even for jewellery.
